HBCU Colleges
HBCU Colleges
This is a list of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). These include institutions of higher education in the United States that were established before 1964 with the intention of primarily serving the Black American community.
HBCUs are located all over the United States; contrary to the belief that they were only located in the South. Due to segregation in the South many of these colleges date back to the 1950s and 1960s. This is an ongoing list of these colleges in our placement option.
HBCU colleges are considered the leading colleges established by some of the leading educators and professionals. These schools were established due to the segregation of colleges and universities in the South. Some schools extend far beyond the South, and many have famous graduates. Individuals like Spoke Lee, Felecia Rashad, Debbie Allen, and Thurgood Marshall are also graduates of HBCU colleges and universities.
