About Us
Kenneth Davis. MA Ed is an Independent Educational Consultant and Therapist. He has a strong medical and education background. As the CEO and owner of Educational Planning and Counseling Services, we work with families around the country and abroad in educational planning and placaement.
We provide help to those parents who are unable to navigate the process of finding a boarding or therapeutic schools placement. As a member of The (SEC) Society of Educational Consultants (2008), The Higher Educational Consultants Association (2005) as well as associate member of The Independent Educational Consultants Association (2003), Mr. Davis brings to his practice a wealth of knowelege.
He is currenty a very active member of The Association of Educational Therapist (2009-2010) as well as The National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Cetrification and a member of The Educational Publishers Association (2009-2011) with a special education background with cross categorial certification in special education and extensive knowledge in this area.
Mr. Davis additionally is listed as accredited member of the Arizona Better Business Bureau. Educational Planning and Counseling Services is listed with the Arizona Cooperation
Comission with a LLC standing. Mr. Davis is additionally a conssultant with College Match, working speficially in boarding school, therapeutic boarding, residental, day, college
preparatory schools, as well as wilderess and residentialprogram placement in addition to being a team consultant for College Match.
Mr. Davis has been in practce for well over 8 years as a consultant, with over 20 years as a recreational therapist, working in both psychiatric medicine and physical medicine rehabilitation settings. He has taught in a public school as a special education teacher with special exoerience with IEP's and 504 plans. Mr. Davis is very knowledable of working with children and families including: young adults, with developmental and physical disabilities, gifted or exceptional students.
Mr. Davis holds a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University, in Malibu, California, where he was awarded his Masters Degree in (2004). He also has additional graduate studies at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (1981), and additioanl gradute studies at Wayne State University )1982)and the University of Maryland (1962) respectively.
Mr Davis earned a Bachelors Degree in recreation therapy with an emphasis in therapeutic special populations at Abilene Christian University. Mr. Davis has lived throughout the United States and outside the country, working with various groups and families addressing the needs of their children and adolescents internationally.
He regularly tours both small or larger boarding schools, co educational or single gender boarding schools, day schools ,college prepartory school programs, wilderness and residental or transition programs for adolescents and young adults. He frequently attends workshops like School Connections, keeping very abreast of boarding and therapeutic schools for consultants, seeking to find the "right fit".
Mr. Davis can pin-point most needs of parents and identify the specific areas where families are requesting help. Mr. Davis knows the settings and the curriculum of schools and programs. He is also familar with local school districts faced by more recent cuts in budgets to help parents. Mr. Davis is an excellent advocate and understands the process of working with families to find their strengths.
Mr. Davis speciality is works with students with eating disorders, substance abuse or chemical dependency, behavioral management issues, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or attention deficit, dyslexia, Aspergers conditions, mental health and other language based learning differences, often described as special needs. Children in lower and upper grades, or those student's faced with lower intellectual functioning and developemental challenges. can benefit from our services.
